We are delighted to welcome back Colin Walls as our judge tonight.  Colin gave us a fascinating talk on Street Photography on 23rd November last year and has returned to judge The Big One - our Image of The Year Competition!  Lets look forward to seeing some great images and hearing some helpful and constructive critique from Colin.  

1) Scott Antony will showcase his PhotoFilms.

Scott will bring a variety of AVs, including a collaboration with Leslie from her trip to see the tigers.

2) Bring your camera for a group discussion about the finer workings/menus/tricks/tips etc about your brand 

Ali is arranging an evening of show and tell - with this being the opportunity for you to ask fellow club members about the "how do I do this?" or "Does my camera do that?". The evening is aimed to be split into groups (by camera brand) but you can also swap tables to learn...

March Back to Basics will be on 26th March 2024 at 7:30pm at the Bowls Club with the topic being:

"LightRoom/Adobe Camera Raw - sliders and beyond."  
The aim is once again to run a very interactive session; members please along your laptops and a couple of images you would like to edit.  Trish will then see who is in the session and will tailor it to the appropriate level (you could be a complete beginner or an advanced user - or somewhere in between!) the idea being that Trish can demonstrate a...

Our speaker tonight is Peter Crane ARPS who is making a return visit to Stroud after judging our 2nd Open competition on 14th December.  This time he's treating us to a talk on street photography.  He is a photographer who captures moments of something seen and we will be reminded of the benefits of really knowing our camera equipment when shooting from the hip!

A members' evening.
Please bring up to 3 images on a memory stick for the evening.  The 3 images can be any combination of triptych and/or creative.  Eg. you could bring one triptych and two creative images, or 3 triptychs or 3 creatives.

Be ready to explain to members why you thought a triptych suited your image, and how/why you created your creative image.   Try to create a new image for the evening - we have seen plenty of creative speakers over the past couple of years to stimulate your ideas.  Creative can be anything you...

Competition No. 4 - OPEN

Making his first visit to Stroud, we give a warm welcome to our judge this evening, Jonathan Bolgar. 
Jonathan is a member of the North West Bristol Camera Club and the RPS Documentary and Digital Groups.  He has completed a two-year course in commercial photography at the City of Bristol College. 

A New Year. 
Our meeting will begin with a discussion on the remainder of the programme and feedback on what's gone before and followed by a critique of competition images and prints that scored 18 - 15  in the preceding three competitions (Nature and 2 Opens)—lastly, a discussion about Artificial Intelligence and its relation to camera photography.

It's our Christmas break!

Our speaker this evening is Oliver Smart, wildlife photographer and ornithologist who studied at the University of Birmingham. His passion for nature and interest in photography captures the diversity of wildlife from behind the camera. As well as scores of magazine covers, his images have been published in the national press, nature magazines, books and wildlife guides as well as an image on a Seychelles banknote and an Australian postage stamp!

Forget all the rules and restrictions for Nature Competitions for this evening - this is your opportunity to share up to 5 of your best images of domesticated animals (e.g., Horses, donkeys, pot-bellied pigs), farm animals, garden plants, flowers, landscapes of gardens, etc.  In other words, all of nature in the true sense of the word, but not in Nature Competition photography terms!!!  Our own Trish Bloodworth will give us some image critique in the evening. Usual arrangements, bring along your images  on a named memory stick
