Image of the Year  Print and DPIC                                     

We are delighted to welcome back our old friend and international award-winning photographer,
Martin Fry FRPS FBPE EFIAP/d3 AV-EFIAP/b APAGB to judge our Image Of The Year competition. 

Small Group Critique Session
The format for this evening generally involves splitting into groups of five or six, gathered around a laptop computer.  Each group member brings a small selection of images on a memory stick and the group then reviews each image, offering suggestions as to how the image might have been improved in composition or post-processing.  It's a fun and informative evening and is all conducted in a friendly and constructive manner.  Mostly :)

Out of the Dark - Still Life Photography
Welcome to Simon who returns to Stroud Camera Club to give us a brief history of both still life painting and photography - and how classic art influences modern photography. The presentation covers current masters of still life photography; the art of composition and lighting and other techniques and pitfalls.

Back to Basics on 21st March - The theme is creating and using textures within photo editing software.  No booking required, just turn up with your camera, an old baking tin, an old photograph and an old piece of paper. Plus your laptop if you have one you use to edit. £3 fee payable at the next meeting you attend.

MONO Competition                                 
A warm welcome back to Stroud for our judge, Martin Cooper. 
Martin isn't keen to be labeled as a landscape photographer. He says  "My style, as with any other serious photographer, is always developing and, I hope, progressing. The only way to find out if this is true is to get feedback about your images."

Roger's challenge is 'Inspired by...' with members invited to submit 3 images taken between 1 Dec 2022 and the deadline for entry on 28 Feb 2023 with inspiration for each each image taken from the following:

a. A well known artist,

b. A well-known photographer, and/or

c. One of the external speakers we had in 2022.

Your images can represent a mix of the above categories or come from a single category.  For example, if you live next door to some odd looking twins you could try a Diane Arbus style image, if you...

A 3 Team Friendly                                       

Team Captains Annie, Roger and Trish will lead on this fun and good-spirited evening of friendly challenge.  The team members will submit images for the Captains to select from.  The selected images then get projected anonymously on the night for everyone to vote on.  The team with the biggest overall score wins!  Fun and friendly competition - but it might get a bit rowdy! Yay!!

An opportunity to enjoy the winning entries from the WCPF AV competition which took place earlier in the year.  It should give us some useful hints and ideas for our own AV efforts

Stroud welcomes inspirational photographer and member of Bristol Photographic Society, Beryl Heaton ARPS, EFIAP, CPAGB,  who has kindly agreed to judge our 3rd Open Competition

a) Your Take

This is where we give you some unedited files and you edit them.  You can do whatever you want with them. Use them as straight images, combine them as a composite, add a texture, change a sky etc etc.

The only rules are that you must only use elements from the files provided. This year we have 24 images for you to choose from plus a folder of skies/birds and a folder of textures.

Once you have created your masterpiece please can you forward up to 5 images by email or WeTransfer to ...
