The Club

When and where we meet
Like most camera clubs in the UK, we hold regular evening meetings throughout the Season, which runs between September and May.  At the end of May we take a break from formal meetings, starting again at the beginning of the new Season in September.

Our meetings during the Season normally start at 7:30pm and are held at:

The Cotswold Bowls Club
Golden Jubilee Way

Anyone aged 18 or over may apply to become a club member any time between September and May.  The Annual Membership Fee is currently a single payment, at the start of each Season, of £65.00 for the full Season which covers all of the benefits mentioned below.  For anyone joining the Club after Christmas, the membership fee is reduced to £35 for full benefits for the remainder of the Season.

Benefits of membership
As a member you will be joining a friendly and knowledgeable group of people with one important common interest – the joy of photography.  We have members at all levels of expertise and the club is a great way for us all to improve our own photography by association.  There are a number of members who joined us recently with lots of enthusiasm but little knowledge and who are now regularly achieving great results, including scoring well in our Club competitions.

Club membership entitles you to attend all of the club activities without further charge (the only exception would be the additional cost of, for example, participating in any organised outings where direct external costs such as coach hire or entrance fees to attractions are involved).
The club has a lively programme throughout the Season, involving external speakers and presentations together with a mix of internal and inter-club competitions and fun evenings. Check out the “Programme” tab on this website to see what’s coming up.  The Cotswold Bowls Club also operates a licensed bar which is available to us for half-time drinks, as well as a hot beverages machine.

Your membership fee covers attendance of any “Back To Basics” sessions which are usually held once a month during the Season in addition to the main Thursday meetings.  These sessions might, for example, cover tuition in the use of photo editing software, photographic techniques or theory, all tailored to the interests expressed by members during the Season.

As a fully paid up member you also become eligible to join in on our informal Summer Club meetings. Each Thursday evening throughout the Summer we announce a time and place somewhere not too far away, where we meet to chat, take photographs, enjoy the scenery and wind up in a suitable place to quench our thirst, or shelter from the elements!  It’s a nice way of getting to know your fellow Club members away from the more structured meetings during the Season.

Next Steps
We look forward to welcoming you as a member and if you would like to come along to one of our meetings during the main Season before you finally decide to join, just drop us an email to
